Have you been experiencing problems with the performance of your engine? Are you having more and more emissions but you don’t know why or how? You might be having problems with your automotive air filter. Surprised? I’m not. There are a lot of people who take it for granted, whether they mean to or not.The best way to solve your engine problems is to check your filter and clean it regularly. The recommended number of times you should clean it is every time you change your oil. But some people don’t even know how to spot a dirty filter when they see one, let alone know how to clean it properly.Every time you need to change oils, look for the bright light through the filter. Automotive air filters like the Purolator Automotive typically have visible lights you can see upon opening the engine. If you can’t see any light, that means your filter is dirty and you need to take it out. You can have someone do it for you or you can do it yourself. After you remove it, apply the cleanser on the dirty side of the filter and leave it for about ten minutes. This is for the cleanser to loosen all the dirt and for you to be able to rinse it easier. After ten minutes, make sure you rinse it out thoroughly and leave it to dry for 20 minutes. Absolutely don’t oil it if it’s not yet completely dry.When it’s time for you to oil it, apply the oil only on the dirty side of the filter and make sure that the color is even throughout. Leave it again for 20 minutes then check back with the filter if there are any damages or the color is uneven. If all looks good, follow the instructions on putting it back.
